Welcome Maine-Endwell Alumni

Several years ago I had the idea to start a website for ME Alumni that would be an alternative to ClassMates.com. My hope was that alumni members would contribute their thoughts, ideas, announcements, etc that would build out the site. To this end I think it has been successful. Thanks to all who have helped get this thing going and those who keep the site fresh with their contributions!

Women's Class Ring Found Class of 81 or 87

I got this email this week:
My name is Jaime Lucero and I’m a Police Officer with the Denver Police Department. To make a long story short, I recovered a female’s class ring from Maine Endwell High School. I took it off a subject who I had contacted and when he couldn’t explain where he got it, I placed it in our Property Bureau. It is now past our holding period and it will soon go to auction. I’d like to see if you, or anyone you’re in contact with, might recognize it so I can get it back to its rightful owner. A description of the ring follows: Gold band with a round, smooth blue stone and a cross superimposed within the stone. On one side it has the words "Class of 87" or "81" (hard to tell), and on the other side it says "Spartans". Across the top is says "Maine Endwell High School", and within the band it has the initials "J.M.B."

If anyone knows someone from these two classes with these initials drop me a note and I will forward the Sgt's email address to them or you.

Peter

Class of 1966 40th

image
Dayle Harrington Hickey has provided us with a photo of the 25th reunion of the Class of 1966 held in 1991. The photo was taken by Larry Melious who it just so happens is a neighbor of mine here in the Pacific NW (well up in the Canadian Gulf Islands that is). The Class of 66 has had a well organized effort underway for sometime to get everyone rounded up for their 40th reunion coming up July 28-29.

What's Up With the Class of 66?

For some reason the class of 1966 has been joining the site in droves. Now one would think that this group, fast approaching 60, would be among the least tech savy of the ME Alumni but apparently not. Welcome to all of you from the class of 1966 who have joined in the last month or so.

I'm a little fuzzy about the first class to graduate from the current HS location. Was the high school in the current Visions Credit Union building in the mid 60s? Where did you guys go to high school?

Walking the walk and talking the talk.. Mr Jack Gilroy.

Our former teacher, Mr Jack Gilroy has a website that shows what he has been up to since leaving ME. And surprise surprise... he actually practices what he preached to us all for so many years! Wow, I was amazed and proud to see that he has indeed been true to his beliefs and has taken action to the point of serving prison time in 2001. He is also the author of a number of books . Bravo Mr Gilroy!

Let's Get Some Photos Online

www.flickr.com
Last summer I was home and went up to the high school and took a few photos. Not much has changed inside the building but there have been big changes in the football field and track. I have started a Flickr group to make it easy to share photos for those who are so inclinded. If you haven't heard about Flickr it is a free photo posting service that allows you to easily put photos online. If you have images you want to share drop me a note and I'll send you and invitation so that you can post something after you create a Flickr account. You don't need an account to view the photos.

We have two groups:
